Mrs. Olson

It is my privilege to introduce myself as the principal of St. James Catholic School.

I am a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and have completed my master’s degree in Administration through Olivet Nazarene University and graduated in May of 2014.   I have been teaching for 16 years and this is my third year as principal, as I served as an assistant principal in 2013-2014.  I have spent most of my time teaching fourth grade though.

I grew up a White Sox fan in the south suburbs of Chicago, but now call the Rockford area my home.  17 years ago I married Rob and together we have one son, Michael, a sophmore at Boylan and an alumni of St. James.  I am very dedicated to keeping healthy.  Whether it is running with a friend or taking a class at the local gym I continue to be active.  I am very passionate about working with children and watching them grow in their faith and academic lives. Family values play an important part in fostering a life-long friendship with God and the church.

It is my calling to uphold the St. James Mission Statement which is:

St. James School is a Catholic faith community,

which nurtures the talents of God’s children

through the education of their minds, bodies, and spirits
