Race for Education

Race for Education is an annual jog-a-thon. Our first annual event last year raised over $16,000. Each year the money raised helps our school to continue to provide a quality education and affordable tuition for the students and families at St. James School.

The Race was started to promote Health and Wellness and to encourage the students and the entire St. James School community to make healthy food choices and to exercise on a daily basis.

This is a fun activity for the students and faculty. The whole school gets geared up for the Race. The children obtain “sponsors” for the Race by writing letters to friends and family members. Students are able to get donations for each lap they run and flat donations are also accepted.

On the day of the Race the children, faculty and parents will run, jog or walk around a ¼ mile track for one hour. At the end of the hour the total number of laps are tallied for each child and their pledges are calculated accordingly.

Families are encouraged to come watch, cheer and run with their children on the day of the Race. The Race is a great way to get your exercise, have fun with your children, and raise money for St. James school all at the same time.

Many volunteers are needed in order to make the Race a success. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the School Office at 815-962-8515 or email the office at stjamesoffice.

We are looking forward to another great Race for Education this year. Thank you for your support and we hope to you see you there!
